Are you looking to complete a construction project in Alberta? Depending on the size of your project, you will need an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, and before submitting your application, the first thing to consider is the size of your project. This will typically fall into two categories:
1) Small Sites
These sites are under 0.4ha of land and do not feature any characteristics that would indicate greater than normal ESC concerns. The first thing to do is to contact 311 and determine whether a Good Housekeeping or an ESC plan is required. After a review process, you will then be issued with the relevant approval letters.
2) Medium to Large Sites
If your site is greater than 0.4ha, but under 65ha, then you will need to submit an ESC application to ESC@calgary.ca. This will then trigger a review process that, once approved, will see you issued with an approval letter. If your site is over 65ha, then your ESC application may also include a Phasing Plan Drawing and Large Site Safety Plan.
Once you have submitted your ESC plan, The City will respond within 14 days, but it is common for projects to need resubmitting several times until they meet the requirements. If you need support with your Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, then AESC is here to help you.
