Eco Plan
An Environmental Construction Operations Plan identifies and mitigates the environmental impacts from construction activities. Contractors are responsible for developing and implementing ECO Plans for their projects. Following the City of Calgary/Edmonton and Alberta Transportation ECO Plan Framework these plans must include: project description, environmental sensitivities, applicable permits, approvals and regulations, drawings, potential environmental impacts & controls, waste management & hazardous materials, ECO Plan implementation and Environmental emergency response procedures. We create project-specific plans that meet these stringent requirements, ensuring a smooth and stress-free process.

At Alberta Sediment and Erosion Control, we have over thirty years of combined industry experience. Specialising in the development, implementation and monitoring of Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Plans, we work closely with builders and developers to ensure job sites are fully compliant with regulations.
We provide Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plans, to identify and mitigate environmental impacts from construction activities.
By establishing and auditing best management practices onsite, we provide the assurance that construction delays or costly fines due to negative environmental impacts do not occur.

Erosion occurs when sediment and soil are washed away by water. Water erosion can affect construction projects of all sizes.
Hydroseeding is an erosion control technique. It is also known as hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, or hydraseeding. It is a planting process that uses a slurry of seed and mulch to better mitigate the effects of water erosion.
Depending on the conditions of the job site, different methods can be used to prevent sediment from washing away. These include: hydroseeding, silt fence, erosion control blankets, silpat mat, soil stabilization, and sediment traps.
An ESC Plan can be required for any job site if there is potential of an adverse effect to property, infrastructure, health and safety, or the environment. A general rule of thumb is that smaller sites under 0.4 hectares may not need an ESC Plan, however, one may be requested if the municipality believes it necessary.
An ESC Plan must be prepared by a qualified designer who holds one of the following designations: Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, Professional Engineer, Professional Licensed Engineer, or Professional Agrologist.
Alberta Erosion and Sediment Control regularly inspects all job sites to ensure that implemented ESC Plans are effective and meeting the stringent requirements of municipalities and Alberta Environment and Parks.
Detailed documentation is required for all ESC Plans and it must be submitted to the city or municipality in which the project is taking place.
